On a whim, we booked a day trip to nearby Morocco from our base in Málaga. We took a bus to the Spanish port city of Tarifa and then a ferry over into Moroccan territory. We chose a guided tour because we were both a little dubious about travelling to Africa-- it was the first African country for both of us!
In this video we have lunch -- our first taste of Moroccan food -- take a walk through a souk, and learn about just how multicultural Morocco is.
The tour was a bit of a mixed bag. It was a very long, exhausting day with too many pushy vendors and a very structured itinerary, but there were highlights like the Moroccan lunch, the multilingual tour guides, and a few more things coming in Part 2. In the end, we're glad we did it because we don't think Tangier is a city we'd want to explore on our own. It's not usually our travel style, but in this case we were very happy to have the whole trip planned out for us.
