This documentary film is part of a series of three artistic works on Social and Ecological Transformation in Morocco, produced in partnership with the Heinrich Böll Foundation – Afrique du Nord Rabat.
The city of Safi, on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, is facing heavy environmental issues due to its industrial activities. The soils, the air and the sea are polluted by waste from the phosphate transformation complex, in addition to a planned coal-powered thermal plant which already has consequences on the health of neighboring communities.
Civil society organizations are trying to raise awareness about these issues, and get the authorities to take stronger measures to offer better living conditions to the inhabitants of Safi.
